Safe Gas Production
Winds Exploration & Production won the bid for the largest gas block concessioner in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Idjwi Block which is 473 sqkm compared to the other two that are 154 sqkm and 183 sqkm each. We are also farthest from the conflict area. Lake Kivu is stratified and holds vast amounts of methane and carbon dioxide below the depths of 260 meters.

The lake is shared by Rwanda and DRC. The gas produced will help DRC and surrounding regions achieve their energy transition and decarbonization goals from a heavy reliance on diesel powered generators for electricity. The transition will usher in more affordable electrical energy options from gas turbines while the CO2 will be repurposed and redistributed to targeted markets.
